Successful Alumni Stories: Ass. Prof. Ivan Durgutovski, MSc

Ivan Durgutovski is a successful graphic designer and a visual artist. His creative spirit brought him to the Faculty of Art and Design at the European University, where he graduated in 2010. As a tireless researcher, always eager for new knowledge, he enrolled in the second cycle of studies in Graphic Design. He received his Master’s Degree in 2017 on “Design of Magazines in the Digital Media Era: Design, Communication, Perception”, under the mentorship of Professor Gordana Vrencoska, PhD. He received numerous awards and recognitions both at home and abroad, held several solo exhibitions and participated in several group exhibitions. His most notable accomplishments are: participating in a group exhibition dedicated to director Stanley Kubrick at the the Cinémathèque Française; collaborating with the Croatian company Kraš for the campaign “I Have a KRAŠ on You”, which has received many international accolades and festival awards; awards for self-portrait photography at the ReFOTO (Belgrade, Serbia) and Rovinj Photodays (Rovinj, Croatia); first prize at the student competition for poster design for the promotion of tourism in Macedonia; solo exhibitions in collaboration with Lilika Strezoska “Eve, po Doma (At Home, Hanging About)” and “I.D.D.Q.D.”; solo photo exhibition “Emotional Landscapes” in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and others.

This academic year, Ivan returned to the Faculty of Art and Design, but this time as a lecturer. About his experience on his road from a student to a professor at the European University, Ivan says:

“I found myself again where I started; now leading and monitoring the process from the other side. While studying I gained guidance and experiences that I still follow and apply today, and they made me work on creating new paths for what follows. The feeling of working with young people is really wonderful, because in that story we learn and grow together. ”

We wish him successful work with the students and many more new creative challenges
